About the Artist

Patthar is a home decor brand founded by Leo Shastri and Arman Sahni, based in Delhi while working closely with artisan communities in Agra. Patthar focuses on handcrafted stone decor, created using traditional techniques. Each piece is carved by skilled artisans, using Palewa and Alabaster stone, and produced in small, thoughtful batches that highlight individuality and material character.

The journey of Patthar is rooted in a respect for stone, craft, and sustainability guided by a design philosophy of minimalism. By ensuring fair wages, ethical sourcing, and eco-friendly processes, the brand preserves generational craftsmanship. Through Patthar, the founders aim to bring affordable luxury into modern Indian homes, while empowering artisans and encouraging conscious, responsible consumption. Each object is designed to feel warm, functional, enduring, and deeply connected to people and place.

Ready-to-ship pieces are dispatched within 72 hours of placing your order. For made-to-order creations, the timeline mentioned on the product page applies.

Every piece at Kala Curry travels directly from the hands that made it to the home that will cherish it. Because your order ships straight from the artist, multiple items may arrive in separate packages from different corners of India. This mindful, direct journey reduces excess warehousing and unnecessary transit — a quieter, more considered approach to sustainability.

We offer free shipping on orders above ₹5,000.

As each piece is handcrafted with care, we accept returns only if your item arrives damaged or incorrect. Please notify us within 48 hours of delivery.

FAQs

Most commonly asked questions from the community

Why is there a shipping fee?

Each piece on Kala Curry is shipped directly from the artist or collective who made it, so your order might travel from different parts of the country depending on what you buy.

As we grow, we’re working on making shipping more efficient (and more affordable). But for now, this fee helps us make sure your art gets to you safely, straight from the source.

We offer free shipping on all orders over ₹5,000 as a small thank you for supporting handmade art.

How can I cancel my order?

Since we work with independent artists and small collectives, we don’t allow cancellations once an order is placed. We encourage you to buy only what you truly love. This helps us reduce waste and honours the time, care, and effort behind every piece. If you are unsure about a purchase and our website doesn’t answer all your questions, reach out to us at kalacurry.friends@gmail.com

How do I return my order?

We only accept returns if your order arrived damaged or if we sent you the wrong item. If that happens, just let us know within 48 hours of delivery, and we’ll take care of it.

To help us process your return smoothly, please take clear photos and an unboxing video when your package arrives. You can submit your return request through this link.

What do I do if my order is damaged?

We’re so sorry your order didn’t arrive as it should have. We promise we’ll try to make it right!

Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery, and send us photos + an unboxing video so that we can cross-check the issue with the artist and our shipping partners. We’ll process your return or replacement from there as per our return policy.

Why doesn’t Kala Curry offer cash on delivery (COD)?

Most Kala Curry products are shipped directly by our artisans and made in small batches.

COD orders have 2–3x higher return rates than prepaid orders, with nearly 1 in 4 orders being returned. These returns lead to unnecessary shipping, packaging waste, and higher carbon emissions, and directly impact artisan livelihoods.

By avoiding COD, we can:

  • Reduce returns and environmental burden
  • Ensure fair, predictable earnings for artisans
  • Enable faster, smoother deliveries

Thank you for supporting independent artists and sustainable craft practices.
