Gulmohar and Parakeet Dishes

Rs. 9,000.00
Style: Deep Dish

Inspired by the parrots that nest, chirp and sing in Delhi gardens and ancient structures, these brightly hand painted dishes try to commemorate a glimpse of nature and summer on their surface. 2 deep dishes & 1 plate, we’re all carefully crafted on the potters’ wheel and then trimmed to blossom into the desired shape, to serve as a canvas for the design to come to life. These platters carry heft, memory, a hint of nostalgia for Delhi’s charm and can be used both functionally for serving food or as decor pieces to show off their splendour.

About the Artist

Aastha is a ceramic artist and the founder of Mitti & Mind, a pottery studio based in Gurgaon. She works primarily with clay, creating small-batch functional and decorative pieces, and also conducts hands-on workshops that introduce people to the process of working with ceramics.

Clay entered Aastha’s life as a grounding practice and gradually became the medium through which she built Mitti & Mind. Her work is wheel-thrown and hand-finished, shaped slowly through throwing, trimming, drying, multiple firings, and glazing, often taking days or weeks for a single piece to be complete. She approaches each form intuitively, allowing the material to guide the final shape rather than forcing a fixed outcome. Nature plays a steady role in her process, influencing her use of organic forms, muted palettes, and subtle surface textures. Aastha works in small batches, focusing on presence, patience, and respect for the material, with each piece made to be used, lived with, and owned by one person at a time.

We offer free shipping on orders above ₹5,000.

As each piece is handcrafted with care, we accept returns only if your item arrives damaged or incorrect. Please notify us within 48 hours of delivery.

To help us resolve this smoothly, please share:

  • Clear photos of the product
  • An unboxing video showing the issue

You can submit your return request through our returns form here.

Care Guide

Ceramics is a hardy material, considering it’s gone through various stages of handling and considerably high temperatures during making. However like anything else, it requires care while handling - wipe with a soft cloth, to maintain its shine.

FAQs

Most commonly asked questions from the community

Why is there a shipping fee?

Each piece on Kala Curry is shipped directly from the artist or collective who made it, so your order might travel from different parts of the country depending on what you buy.

As we grow, we’re working on making shipping more efficient (and more affordable). But for now, this fee helps us make sure your art gets to you safely, straight from the source.

We offer free shipping on all orders over ₹5,000 as a small thank you for supporting handmade art.

How can I cancel my order?

Since we work with independent artists and small collectives, we don’t allow cancellations once an order is placed. We encourage you to buy only what you truly love. This helps us reduce waste and honours the time, care, and effort behind every piece. If you are unsure about a purchase and our website doesn’t answer all your questions, reach out to us at kalacurry.friends@gmail.com

How do I return my order?

We only accept returns if your order arrived damaged or if we sent you the wrong item. If that happens, just let us know within 48 hours of delivery, and we’ll take care of it.

To help us process your return smoothly, please take clear photos and an unboxing video when your package arrives. You can submit your return request through this link.

What do I do if my order is damaged?

We’re so sorry your order didn’t arrive as it should have. We promise we’ll try to make it right!

Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery, and send us photos + an unboxing video so that we can cross-check the issue with the artist and our shipping partners. We’ll process your return or replacement from there as per our return policy.

Why doesn’t Kala Curry offer cash on delivery (COD)?

Most Kala Curry products are shipped directly by our artisans and made in small batches.

COD orders have 2–3x higher return rates than prepaid orders, with nearly 1 in 4 orders being returned. These returns lead to unnecessary shipping, packaging waste, and higher carbon emissions, and directly impact artisan livelihoods.

By avoiding COD, we can:

  • Reduce returns and environmental burden
  • Ensure fair, predictable earnings for artisans
  • Enable faster, smoother deliveries

Thank you for supporting independent artists and sustainable craft practices.
