[ORIGINAL ARTWORK - 1 of 1]

GRIDS is a playful series of hand-drawn patterns that explore shapes, spaces, and repetition. Each square has its own little story—some feel like rooms, staircases, or windows—while all together they form a kind of abstract city. It’s all about finding rhythm in structure and having fun with how the eye moves through the piece.

 > This is done on a 300 gsm brown craft paper, adding subtlety to the bold colour scheme of black and brown. The kraft paper brings a little rustic feel to this one adding some warmth to the art and your home

About the Artist

Aakash Dewan is an artist and industrial designer from Bombay, currently based in Bangalore. He maintains an independent art practice rooted in drawing and painting. He works primarily on paper and canvas, sometimes extending into fabric and embroidery. His process is shaped by a daily ritual of doodling one page every night, functioning as meditation and observation, and translating everyday provocations like objects and architecture into spatial compositions with depth.

His journey with art began early, guided by an artist mother and formal training, later leading him to a master’s in industrial design in 2012. Influenced by three-dimensional thinking and M.C. Escher, his works often resemble architectural grids or imagined cities. He has practiced consistently for over ten years, expanding from small sketchbooks to larger formats, treating art as provocation and valuing handmade authenticity in an increasingly artificial world.

Care Guide

❤ Taking Care of Your Art
To make sure your artwork lives a long, colorful life:
• Keep it dry: Avoid placing it in damp or humid spaces like bathrooms or basements. Art hates soggy vibes.
• Avoid direct sunlight: Unless your art is a sunbather (it’s not), too much sun can fade those lovely colors.
• Frame it (if it’s not already): Not only does it look snazzy, but it also protects the edges and surface.
• Dust gently: A soft, dry cloth is your friend. No cleaners or sprays needed — this isn’t a window!
• Love it loud: The more joy you get from it, the more magic it brings to your space.

FAQs

Most commonly asked questions from the community

Why is there a shipping fee?

Each piece on Kala Curry is shipped directly from the artist or collective who made it, so your order might travel from different parts of the country depending on what you buy.

As we grow, we’re working on making shipping more efficient (and more affordable). But for now, this fee helps us make sure your art gets to you safely, straight from the source.

We offer free shipping on all orders over ₹5,000 as a small thank you for supporting handmade art.

How can I cancel my order?

Since we work with independent artists and small collectives, we don’t allow cancellations once an order is placed. We encourage you to buy only what you truly love. This helps us reduce waste and honours the time, care, and effort behind every piece. If you are unsure about a purchase and our website doesn’t answer all your questions, reach out to us at kalacurry.friends@gmail.com

How do I return my order?

We only accept returns if your order arrived damaged or if we sent you the wrong item. If that happens, just let us know within 48 hours of delivery, and we’ll take care of it.

To help us process your return smoothly, please take clear photos and an unboxing video when your package arrives. You can submit your return request through this link.

What do I do if my order is damaged?

We’re so sorry your order didn’t arrive as it should have. We promise we’ll try to make it right!

Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery, and send us photos + an unboxing video so that we can cross-check the issue with the artist and our shipping partners. We’ll process your return or replacement from there as per our return policy.

Why doesn’t Kala Curry offer cash on delivery (COD)?

Most Kala Curry products are shipped directly by our artisans and made in small batches.

COD orders have 2–3x higher return rates than prepaid orders, with nearly 1 in 4 orders being returned. These returns lead to unnecessary shipping, packaging waste, and higher carbon emissions, and directly impact artisan livelihoods.

By avoiding COD, we can:

  • Reduce returns and environmental burden
  • Ensure fair, predictable earnings for artisans
  • Enable faster, smoother deliveries

Thank you for supporting independent artists and sustainable craft practices.
