Pratiksha Tandon is an Indian artist and designer. She founded Studio Rata in 2023 as an independent practice rooted in bead weaving. The brand began during a period of personal loss and caregiving, when making by hand became a daily, grounding act. What started as self-taught exploration slowly grew into a studio built around time, care, and skill-sharing. At Rata, Pratiksha works primarily with bead weaving, combined with techniques like wire work and thread-based construction. The process does not rely on fabric or a base surface; each piece is built bead by bead in open form, shaped through tension, direction, and repetition. She works closely with a small team of artisans, first training them in the craft and then encouraging gradual experimentation within a shared design framework. Every piece goes through an extended phase of sampling and refinement, and timelines vary based on complexity. The work is slow by nature, and the focus remains on structure, form, and the integrity of the handmade process rather than volume or speed.
